 Sports Day information letter 2024

We are very excited to announce that our Sports Day will be taking place at Mountbatten Sports Centre’s track this year. 

  • Monday 20th May 2024- Year R, 1 and 2 - 10:15 am

  • Tuesday 21st May 2024- Year 3 and 4 - 10:15 am

  • Friday 24th May 2024- Year 5 and 6 - 10:15 am

What will the children be doing on the day?

  • On the day of the event, your child will come into school as normal.

  • Children will be walking down to the Mountbatten centre with the rest of their class ready for a 10:15 start.

  •  At 10:15am children will take part in an opening ceremony around the athletics track.

  • At 10:30am children will participate in a range of fun activities within their class teams

  • At 11.45am the children will finish and return to their class teachers

  • At 12:00 parents/carers will be invited to join the children for a picnic lunch

  • At 12:45 children will walk back to school with their class teachers

What will I need to do as a parent/carer on the day?

  • Make your way to the Mountbatten centre for 10:15am 

  • Adults will be asked to leave the venue by 12:45pm to allow for children to walk back to school with their class teachers.

  • In order to support us with safeguarding, we kindly ask that you not take any pictures on the day. School staff will take lots of photos and these will be shared with you after the event.   

If you are planning on attending the sports day, please complete the following google form so that we are aware of which parents/carers to expect. Due to the capacity of the venue, we request only two adults per child.

When I arrive at the Mountbatten centre what do I need to do?

  • Enter the centre via the entrance point identified below

  • Make your way to the seating area identified in the image below

What happens if it rains?

In the event of rain, while we may need to consider cancelling the event, the final decision regarding safety and feasibility will be made by the Mountbatten Centre. However, rest assured, we are committed to ensuring that Sports Day proceeds as planned, either at a later date at the track or within the school premises. Let's keep our fingers crossed for clear skies and a successful Sports Day experience for all.

 

What will happen after the event?

After the events, all children will have a picnic lunch on the Mountbatten field.

  • Remember to bring along your own picnic lunch to eat alongside your child.

  • Please remember that we are a nut free school and therefore we request that you do not bring any nut products to this event.

Please provide your child with a packed lunch, if your child is entitled to a free school meal we will provide them with a packed lunch, please ensure you indicate this on the Google form below if this applies to your child.
