   Independent  Writing

Children gather their ideas for their own piece of writing which they then jot down onto a ‘box plan’, younger children then create their ‘bare bones’ text map.

At this point, children then follow the writer’s process (modelled in the innovation stage) to independently plan, draft, edit and publish their own piece of writing.

It is doing this stage that children should apply the ‘GAPS’ sentence, handwriting and spelling skills they have been taught withing class an practiced at home.
