Autumn Term (1)
Rabbit class have had a very positive start to the new academic year and have really settled in well. They have followed the school routines very well and enjoyed making new friends.
Well done Rabbit Class. We are looking forward to seeing you all next week.
Rabbits class have had a fantastic week settling into full time school life. We have been learning class rules, following routines and making new friends.
We have been finding out about our school values who are the five dragons, Teamwork Trio, Resilient Ruby, Creative Christophe, Independent Isaac and Challenge Charlie. Each day this week our activities have been linked to a different dragon. These have included, painting a self portrait, working together as a team to build towers and gluing and sticking pictures.
Also this week Rabbits class took part in their first P.E lesson with Mr Jones. They all joined in with making different body movements.
Well done Rabbits class on a very successful week. We are all looking forward to another successful week next week.
Rabbit Class have had a fantastic week following classroom routines and enjoying their learning. We have been exploring our dragon values and including them within our activities. It has been lovely to see all the children investigating new learning styles within the classroom. They are so happy and eager to learn within our learning environment.
The children have used paint to create self portraits and we have displayed these in our classroom. We have also been practising to write our names.
The children have been keen to partake in music and PE lessons.
Well done Rabbit Class. We are very proud of you.
Well done to Rabbit class for another successful week. They have settled in beautifully and are all really keen to learn and discover. We have been continuing finding out about our dragon values and demonstrating these within our learning. We have been discussing our favourite meals and recording our ideas. We have also been participating in circle time activities and working as a team just like our dragon ‘Teamwork Trio’.
Rabbit class were very excited to have their first lesson with Doctor Collins. We all went and explored our lovely school grounds and enjoyed investigating mini beasts using magnifying glasses.
Rosie Rabbit has joined Rabbit class this week. Each day a different child will be able to take Rosie Rabbit home for a night and write down their experiences with her. We look forward to sharing these with the class.
This week in Rabbits Class we have been exploring Numicon to enhance our number work. The children have thoroughly enjoyed working with the Numicon shapes. They have ordered them in the correct order and described each Numicon shape and value of each number. We have also been exploring different sizes and using the language smaller and larger.
In phonics we have been exploring games and matching sounds to pictures.
We have really enjoyed listening to Rosie the rabbits adventures each day and all the children have been very keen to take her home.

Well done to our Star of the Week – Maisie!
We have been exploring some exciting learning this week in Rabbit class. In maths we have been finding out about Numicon rods and what they are worth. We have been describing them and ordering them. We have also been finding out about height and length and comparing different lengths around the classroom.
In phonics we have been learning the letter names and sounds for i, n, m and d. Rabbit class have been very keen to share their ideas about these sounds and find out which objects begin with these sounds.
We have been continuing with our story ‘Come along Daisy’ and have created a poster of our favourite things. We have also made Autumn pictures to display around the school.

Autumn Term (2)
Rabbit class have had a great first week back. We have been exploring pattern in Inspirational Maths and the children have independently used resources around the classroom to create 2 and 3 step repeating patterns. The children have been following our school dragon ‘Challenge Charlie’ to challenge themselves with their learning.
In phonics we have been learning the sounds g, o, c and k. Everyone has been eager to share their ideas and find objects that begin with these sounds. The children have brought a letter home today explaining this weeks sounds and their actions.
We have started a new Talk for Write book called ‘How to catch a star’. We have been learning actions to the story and been discussing ideas of how to catch a star.
We had a great time with Doctor Collins on Thursday morning. We all created a huge star outside using sticks and leaves. We all had such a fantastic time exploring our school grounds.
We have introduced our reading dragon this week. We have been encouraging the children to read at least five times a week and if they do their photo appears on the reading dragon. This is then stuck on the outside window every Friday to celebrate their achievement.

Well done Rabbit class for another successful week. In Maths we have been continuing to explore measure around the classroom and investigating the Numicon rods to find the value of each rod and recording our ideas about the rods.
In phonics we have been learning the sounds e, u and r. The children have enjoyed finding objects and pictures that begin with these sounds. We have also introduced cvc words and have used magnetic letters and letter cards to build sounds together to make cvc words.
We are really enjoying bringing our ‘Talk for Write’ story to life ‘ How to catch a star’. It was lovely to hear how the children would catch a star which included using a trampoline, a snake and a rocket!

Well done Rabbit class on another successful week. In maths this week we have been continue to explore the Numicon rods to create patterns and enhance our number skills.
In english we have been using our ‘Talk for Write’ book to think of wishes we could make. We really enjoyed hearing the childrens wishes which included eating chocolate cake everyday and meeting Mickey Mouse!
We have had great fun exploring our sounds during phonics this week. We have been very impressed with how the children have matched initial sounds to pictures.
We have also used our mark making skills to create beautiful patterns to display in the classroom.
Well done Rabbit Class on another successful week. We have been continuing using the Numicon rods to enhance our number skills. The children are very good at recognising the Numicon rods and how much they are worth.
Our Talk for Write book ‘ How to catch a Star’ is getting more exciting each week. This week the children have been learning time words to create instructions of how to catch their own star. The time words we have been learning are first, next, then and finally. Then children have enjoyed drawing their instructions and they will use their drawings to help with their writing next week.
In phonics we have been going over all the sounds we have learnt so far. Rabbit class are becoming very confident with their phonics and are beginning to apply them within their independent tasks.
Its that exciting time of year again when nativity rehearsals begin. Each child has brought home a costume request and lines to learn if they have a speaking part.

Well done Rabbit class on another successful week. All the children have been really enjoying rehearsing for our Nativity and learning all the lovely songs.
In phonics we have been recapping all of the sounds we have learn’t this term and applying them in our independent learning.
Im Maths we have been using Numicon to enhance our number recognition and ordering.
We have been busy creating decorations for the festive season and making our classroom sparkle with appealing art work created by the children.

Spring Term (1)
Rabbit class have had a great first week back.
In phonics we have been recapping the sounds we learnt before christmas and applying them by writing the sounds we recognise.
On Monday we had a surprise visitor called Clarke the clumsy clown. All the children enjoyed meeting him and had lots of fun. Our Maths is all linked to this and this week we introduced addition. We were very impressed how the children could choose 2 numbers and add them together.
Our new Talk For Write book is ‘Giraffes Can’t Dance’ which is a particular favourite of mine. We brought the story to life through actions and words.
We have been practising our reading skills through guided reading and individual reading. This will continue each week throughout the year.
We have all had another exciting week in Rabbit class. We have been continuing with addition in Maths by adding two amounts together. We have been very impressed with the childrens addition skills.
In phonics we have been learning the digraphs qu, sh, ch and th. The children have been choosing pictures beginning with these sounds and writing the sounds too.
In Talk for Write we have been enjoying reading ‘Giraffes Can’t Dance’. We have been having lots of fun exploring circus skills to enhance our writing.

Rabbit Class have had another great week following the dragon values. We have been applying our digraphs and trigraphs in our phonics work through using our sound knowledge and writing captions.
In maths we have beenusing the Numicon resources to add one more. We have been very impressed with how the children have retained this knowledge and been able to apply this through discovery time. In Talk For Write sessions we have been continuing with our text Giraffes Can't Dance and been creating our own circus ideas to our storymaps. Well done Rabbit class you are a pleasure to teach.
Spring term 2
Rabbit Class have had another great week discovering new learning concepts. In phonics we have been continuing to learn our digraphs and apply them in our writing. In T4W we have been bringing the story 'Commotion in the Ocean' to life through actions and rhymes. We have been exploring rhyming sentences and applying them in our writing. In maths we have been subtraction detectives taking numbers away and counting on to make ten. We are very proud at how Rabbit class are independently applying their learning within discovery time.
Keep on going Rabbit class!
Rabbit class had a wonderful time on Tuesday at the Dockyard - we were all thrilled to meet Percy Parrot, as we have been finding out some amazing facts about sea creatures this term after receiving his message in a bottle. We learnt how to sing like a pirate and dug for buried treasure in the sand. We also followed a treasure map around the museum, dressed up as pirates and handled pirate objects to find out more about pirate life.
Rabbit class were beautifully behaved on the trip and their parents should all be very proud.
