Week 8

This week has been a busy one in Lemur class, and we are not showing any signs of slowing down at the end of the year! In shared reading, we have been continuing a research on Ernest Shackleton. We have been learning more and more about his Antarctic expeditions. We will be using this information to help us when it comes to writing on newspaper reports in English. This week in our English lessons, we have been looking at creating some short burst writes in order to practice for when we do our last independent write of the year; Independent newspaper articles about explorers! In maths we have been looking at area and perimeter this week, and the children have found this particularly tricky. I have been very impressed with the resilience of the children, and how they have challenged themselves to keep going even when they have found things tough.

The children also got to have an amazing time at rock up this week! They had the opportunity to climb lots of different shapes and sizes of climbing walls, and all of this was linked to our topic and of value dragons. The children looked like they had an absolutely brilliant time and it was amazing to see some of them really come out of their shells and show some real talent in a very physical activity. All in all we’ve had a brilliant week, and I look  forward to seeing what the last part of the year holds for Lemur class!
