King's Group Academies

So, the end of the half term approaches! The children have achieved
some lovely work and been challenged to complete new tasks which
have been aimed to extend their learning in every way. The
children’s work and attitudes are continually related to our DRAGON
values in order to help the children understand the importance of
each.
Musically, year R have made a great start and have had confidence
building, fun activities to help them focus and begin their musical
journey. Year 1 have investigated all kinds of sounds as well as
practising their rhythm skills and improving their singing. Year 2
should now be able to identify the “Portsmouth” music by Mr. Mike
Oldfield…so if anyone goes to see a Pompey game, and the
“Portsmouth” music is played, listen out for the music, and if your
child suddenly starts stamping out a pattern with their feet…..I’m
sorry!!
The year 2 arts team have been busy helping to distribute
information and poppy pictures to their class mates in time for
remembrance day. Every child should be bringing home one of these
pictures to colour, paint or collage and then stick in their front
windows at home. The aim is to make Hilsea a brilliant area -
showing respect to those who have served and fallen over the years
in the wars.
A new scheme has also started to identify great skills in music. Each
week one child from each of the year 1 and 2 classes will be chosen
as a “Music Star”. Each child’s name will be displayed in the music
space, a “Marvellous Me” will be sent home to parents, and names
of the weekly stars will be on the website. Do look out for these and
see if your child has been chosen. Sometimes it’s very hard to
choose!

During the holiday, do make time for making and creating – baking to
painting, colouring to junk models, it’s all a vital part of your child’s
growth. More than anything though….have fun!
Happy holidays!
