Week 2

Well done another week completed in year 1!
This week you have shown you truly have embedded the school and class rules. Keep up the great work.

In maths this week we have been exploring patterns by using different resources such as paint, multi link, colours and fruits. The children were amazing at repeating and creating the patterns. They used challenge charlier when needing to find the part that is repeated.

In English we have continued to focus on our text ‘Handa’s Surprise’. The children created a mask using the animals from the story as inspiration. They have also been focussing on the structure of a sentence. We were extremely impressed with their understanding of this structure and included all the tools needed to create one.

For shared reading we learnt a new rhyme and used our school value ‘Team work trio’ to act out this rhyme and perform to our class. The children showed great confidence when performing, it was amazing to see. We have also introduced our shared reading text ‘Whatever Next’ to the children. They had to predict what they thought the book would be about by seeing just the front cover. We have continued to hear the children read in school.

During our topic lessons we have been naming and labelling all of the different body parts. The language the children came out with was amazing! We have also been exploring the seasons and comparing summer to the autumn, spring and winter.

Once again, thank you for your continued support during this time and keeping up the great work at home. The children have come home with all of their logins today.

Here’s to another fun week in year 1.

The year 1 team.
