Another fantastic week in Year 1. We loved having you all back in school and continuing our learning in our usual way.
In English we have been exploring the story 'A Tiny Rocket' and have written some superb sentences that have lots of description in. We have made name rockets, designed the inside of a rocket and have pretended to be lots of different space people.
In our Maths lessons we have been working on learning our teen numbers and showing how many tens and ones the number is made up of. Year 1 have used their numicon and tens frames to show this. Keep counting and writing these numbers.
This week we have made dark caves and experimented with different types of light sources. In the story 'Can't you sleep little bear' there were lots of different sources that helped the bear to not be afraid anymore. The children were also using their independence skills to take photos on ipads around the room.
In Shared reading we have started a brand new text all about the stars. We have been learning the difference between fiction and non fiction books. We can't wait to learn even more space facts.
Well done to those children that have read 5 times this week our dragon tail values are looking very busy. Keep up the excellent work :)
