Another fantastic week completed in Year One - you continue to make us all proud each day with your excellent attitude and eagerness to learn. We have been working hard on showing our teachers the value of the week 'Resilience Ruby' around the school and playground.
In our English lessons we have been working on our labelling and sentence writing skills. We designed fruit baskets for Handa, use masks to retell our story and even created our very own story maps. Year 1 have enjoyed learning about 'Handa's Surprise'.
In shared reading we pretended we were paying for currant buns and tasting them just like the famous rhyme 'Five Currant Buns'. Remember to keep learning lots of different rhymes and listening carefully to the pattern within them. During our space story 'Whatever Next' we thought about what would be in our backpack for when we visit space.
In Maths we have been discovering patterns in nature, within spirals and have created our own pattern wheels. Year One are now expert pattern makers! We can also tell you lots of facts about different types of patterns.
In Science we have been continuing to learn about the body. We have made vegetable body creations using our growth mindset skills, such a fantastic afternoon making them. The children also worked with their teacher to label an astronaut and check the body parts were in the correct places.
This week try logging on to Oxford Reading Buddy, Numbots or Purple Mash there is so much for you to explore!
We look forward to hearing all about your weekend and cannot wait for more learning challenges next week!
