Welcome back and I hope you have all had a relaxing half term. It has been a very busy week, even though we have only had four days in school this week.
We have continued with our learning in history and the story of the Gunpowder Plot. We have really enjoyed learning all about Guy Fawkes and the story of the other plotters against King James I. We finished this with how we now celebrate the failure of the plot with Guy Fawkes night and how we need to keep ourselves safe.
In maths this week, we have continued learning about addition and subtraction and the inverse equations. We began by understanding what the term 'inverse' means and what operations are opposite to each other. We've looked at inverse equations within a math story and the importance to get the correct inverse equation for that story.
In our English this week, we have looked at predicting what a story might be by looking at the title of a book and by looking at the front cover. We started to read our new text 'Sally and the Limpet', read a couple of pages before predicting what might happen next. We then looked at some of the vocabulary from the story, predicting what that vocabulary might mean before finding the definition in a dictionary.
Thank you once again for being patient during drop off and pick ups. We have also been looking forward to getting book bags back into school. Next week we will be looking at your reading records to see who has been reading five times or more by Thursday and who, by the end of the term, can achieve our reading target to get a lovely treat for being superstar readers.
