What an exciting week we have had in Year 2!
This week in English, we have been creating a story map for our class text 'Sally and the Limpet' and orally rehearsing it. This is the first text in Year 2 that we have learnt and it is lovely to see how enthusiastic they are when learning it. We look forward to seeing their writing next week.
In Maths, we have been looking at our counting patterns. The counting patterns we have been focusing on are the 2s, 5s and 10s. When given an amount, the children have shown they can identify how many groups there are and how many there are altogether. Why not ask your child to show you the skills they have learnt using the picture below?
There are .................. groups of ten fingers.
There are ..................... fingers altogether.
In History this week, we have been learning about significant people from the past who have had an impact on our lives today. Christopher Columbus was someone who we focused on. We learnt about his life and his exciting journey when he discovered the 'New World'. The children pretended to be him and wrote a letter to the Queen of Spain explaining about his journey and what he discovered.
In DT, we looked at the sculptor called Marc Quinn. He made sculptures out of a variety of materials including bread and even blood and ice! We then created our own sculptor of our hand using salt dough.
Well done to all the children who have read this week! We have been really impressed with how motivated all the children are.
